PRODUCTION
The production process starts with the technical draw of the item the customer wants to produce, analysing the details, features, materials and style of the product. Having the chance of making this first study internally, Italcatene can be quick in the creation of the physical sample and aware of the potential problems that may occur in production.
Then we move on to the production of the chain through the use of brass wires previously processed according to the production needs with satin-finish techniques, machining, polishing…
The brass are inserted into the machinery and in an automated way the chain is obtained; each machine performs processes that differ in type of cut, shape and thickness.
Once obtained, the chain is washed and tumbled with ceramic or porcelain cones in order to remove impurities from the surface and smooth any imperfections due to previous processes.
If the production needs so require, the chain goes to the diamond cutting stage and immediately after to the cutting and assembly bench, where they are cut according to the size indicated by the customer and are mounted carabiners or other accessory components.
Italcatene has the possibility to make laser engravings and markings on its own products.
Once the creation phase is completed, the accessory is mounted on the hooks and transferred to the galvanic department, where by means of the electrodeposit, it is coated with a layer of precious metal that can be gold, palladium or ruthenium.
The galvanic bath in addition to having a decorative purpose is necessary to make the accessories wear-resistant.
The products coming from the galvanic department undergo an accurate control; they are subjected to the measurement of the amount of color absorbed and the thickness of the coating obtained, so as to be sure to have a conforming object.
The quality department constantly checks that every Italcatene product has been executed in a workmanlike manner; all the parts that make up the accessory are carefully observed with enlargers and are selected for the next stage of packaging and shipping, only perfect pieces devoid of any imperfection.
